Henry B. Tilson
Henry has spent almost his entire career in the practice of Workers’ Compensation, and has extensive experience handling files from every interest. After beginning his career in commercial litigation, Henry joined the Special Funds Conservation Committee as a hearing attorney where he handled almost 2,000 hearings throughout the Western New York region. While at Special Funds, Henry excelled at litigating the intricacies of case establishment of files into the Special Disability Fund and the Fund for Reopened Cases, as well as gaining valuable experience in case management and file handling.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Melissa A. Day, Henry had continued his training under the guidance of senior practitioners on both the establishing and defense of Workers’ Compensation cases. Along the way Henry gained a unique and valuable perspective from having litigated “both sides of the table.” This experience helps Henry provide our clients a full prospective viewpoint of their file, and allows him to bring a full and complete defense, often allowing him to foresee and manage issues before they arise.
Henry is passionate about the law, and loves to share his knowledge and experience with others. Recently, Henry was featured on an addition of NPR’s ‘You & the Law,” where he discussed complicated issues in Workers’ Compensation with the host Mike Desmond.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Henry graduated from Truman State University cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics. During his time in college Henry was able to sneak away to Costa Rica to study biology, and later to the London School of Economics to supplement his education.
Henry received his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2011 from Suffolk Law School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received a double concentration in Business Law and International Law while submitting articles for publication in two separate legal journals. Henry is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and New York, as well as in the District Court of Massachusetts and the Western District of New York.
A private pilot since the age of 19, Henry enjoys seeking new adventures in sailing, skiing, scuba, and hiking (to the exasperation of his wife). In his free time Henry enjoys caring for injured wildlife at the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center in East Aurora, New York, as well as slipping in a few bouts at the Fencing Center of Buffalo.
